It all started in a bathroom during a 40th birthday party.  The Blue Gardenia’s needed a spot to rehearse the song “Sentimental Journey” to sing to a friend. Their only option was the restaurant bathroom!  “From then on, we decided to become a band,” says Amber deLaurentis, who sings in the vocal trio, Blue Gardenias, along with Juliet McVicker and Taryn Noelle. Their EP, Blue Gardenias, includes covers such as Sentimental Journey and Glow Worm (Warner Chappell) as well as an original by Tom Cleary (ASCAP)-‘Love Is A Mystery’.
Amber deLaurentis heads the vocal jazz program at the University of Vermont where she co-directs the UVM Jazz Vocal Ensemble with pianist/husband Tom Cleary.  Amber also teaches at St. Michael’s College and maintains a private studio of voice and piano students.  As a songwriter, Amber released her first full-length Americana record, Hey Sadie in 2008 (available through, Amazon, and iTunes).  One of her original singles, “All Year Long”, was featured in the soundtrack of the 2012 holiday film, Scrooge and Marley. As a performer, Amber has opened for Patti Larkin, Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks, NRBQ, Tom Paxton, Marshall Crenshaw, Five for Fighting, Alana Davis, and Entrain.
Juliet McVicker is persistently drawn toward songs that are slightly off the beaten path.  She has opened for many vintage songwriters, such as Eric Anderson, Ritchie Havens, Bill Staines, and David Bromberg. Juliet has four recordings: ‘Pull Down the Moon’, ‘Little Jazz Bird’, ‘The Blue of Night’, and ‘Just a Trace’. These recordings feature several Vermont-based musicians including Michael Chorney, Gordon Stone, Will Patton, Jennifer Hartswick, John Rivers, Tom Cleary, Dan Skea, and Ray Vega.
Taryn Noelle works throughout the state of Vermont as a dance teacher and choreographer, as well as working as an actor and jazz and country-swing vocalist.  She received her theatre training from the Circle in the Square Theatre School in Manhattan, and also trained in Ballroom and Latin while living in the Big Apple. Having released one jazz album, she plans to release a cover album of jazz, pop, and country in the near future.
