Bow Thayer
Americana/Progressive Mountain Music

PRO: Elbop Music/SESAC

BOW THAYER--has been singing and writing songs for as long as he can remember. Making music is who he is. He has lived up to his "reputation as a sublimely gifted artist" by pursuing a creative vision that seeks to lead Americana music into the future. Finally gaining national recognition, American Songwriter Magazine says this "one-time Levon Helm compatriot is the best artist to come from New England in recent years." It was in the Green Mountains of Vermont that he began to explore the Delta blues playing slide guitar for the original Elbow and began a relationship with the banjo—both in the bluegrass group, The Benders, and on his own—that continues to this day. His current group, Bow Thayer & Perfect Trainwreck, released "Bottom of the Sky" in 2011 which landed on the top 100 most played albums at Americana radio.

Their third record "Eden", was co-produced with three time Grammy-winning engineer Justin Guip, to critical acclaim in 2013.  The release was written almost entirely on electric banjo and fuses experimental elements with Americana, rock, bluegrass, and folk, resulting in a singular, progressive sound that has earned the Vermont-based band descriptions ranging from “Green Mountain soul” to “modern backwoods music.”

Bow is currently recording his next album written on a new instrument that he created. This ax blends elements of banjo, guitar and dobro. Eastwood Guitars have taken the proto-type to the next level and we hope that this instrument will make it into production.  It's working title is a "Bowjotar".  Bow is also the founder of the annual Tweed River Music Festival.
